A monthly DIY zine
Hutchkins University is a monthly DIY zine out of Denver. Every month we print a calendar of all the cool shit in the city.
Classes, free museum days, bike rides, skill shares, rad as shit backyard shows, plus a directory of third spaces. All nonprofit, DIY or local. There are no $20 cocktails at Hutchkins University.
How to get a copy
This website has one goal: get a copy of our zine in your hands. Subscribe and we'll mail you a physical copy, or find one at a 3rd space near you.
We call it a "university" because learning happens in community, not a stuffy classroom. The whole city is the classroom, so you're already a student.
Think of us as a meta 3rd space. Not a community “center” but a community “network”.
Denver is already full of amazing spaces and organizers, all doing awesome shit, but in their own lane. We are here to build connection between them, because there is strength in numbers and a rising tide lifts all boats.
Given how fucked the whole world feels these days, all we have is each other. If one person gets a flat tire and has a new number in their phone to call, this whole effort is a success.
Hang the month page on your fridge, get off Instagram, go meet some rad people, ya dingus.

Get involved
The vision is printing these at high volume, as a staple of community in Denver that people can rely on and contribute to, in ways that build mutual aid for everyone involved.
- Finding eventsWe want people plugged into the Denver scene to help fill the calendar with stuff you wouldn't find anywhere else.
- Folding & collatingWe host folding parties where you can help assemble the zine and make friends at the same time! Keep an eye on the calendar for the next one.
- DistributionDrop stacks at third spaces, bring copies to a show to give out, or table at events.
Submit an event
We need help finding events! Keep it community oriented. If you're a corporation after free promotion, don't bother.
Everything is subject to approval, sometimes that's just space. But we want any cool event in Denver.

We plan on throwing monthly calendar release parties, because seeing the same people over and over is how genuine community grows.
The idea behind calling it a university is so YOU can create a new book club, skill share, or Garden Speakeasy (RIP Trash Hole). Please reach out, we want to help make cool shit happen.
Get it in the mail
There is no online version. We leave copies at third spaces around town, or we'll mail you one.
Pay what you can. We're inspired by Same Cafe's pay what you can model. $5 covers printing, postage and time. The donation model asks you to reflect on the value you're getting, and anything over the minimum supports the project as a whole and helps us get more zines into the world.
Subscribe

We charge on the 25th and try and mail them out on the 26th. We do our best to get them to you before the 1st of the month. Subscribe after the 25th and you'll need to wait until the next edition.
We don't have customer service
We are as small of an operation as it gets. We have absolutely no time to manage customer service. Subscriptions are managed by YOU through Stripe. Cancel, update your address or your credit card here:
